Professional Education Data System (PEDS)
Effective January 2016, AACTE is suspending its annual surveys for the Professional Education Data System (PEDS). The Association is planning a new initiative that will replace PEDS by tapping a variety of existing data sources and potentially supplementing them with a targeted new collection. This initiative aims to broaden the database to more completely represent the nation’s educator preparation providers, enabling industry-wide trend analysis, benchmarking capacity, and other program improvement resources.
AACTE members will continue to have access to existing PEDS data. The annual collection has resulted in an extensive database on AACTE's 800-plus member institutions of higher education that offer educator preparation programs. These data continue to provide AACTE, members, policy makers, partners, and the public with valuable information that can be used by institutions and the professional community to support reform, program review, and research.
