A new report from The Wallace Foundation, Understanding the Landscape of Professional Learning, offers timely findings on how principals are being developed and supported nationwide.

 Jason A. Grissom, Ph.D., is Patricia and Rodes Hart Professor of Public Policy and Education at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College of Education and Human Development. He is also the longtime faculty director of the Tennessee Education Research Alliance (TERA), which partners with the Tennessee Department of Education, local school districts, and other education stakeholders to conduct research to inform Tennessee’s school improvement efforts. An expert on education policy and leadership, Grissom’s research makes use of a mix of administrative, survey, interview, and other data to study educators and the broader systems that inform their work. He is best-known for his research on leaders at the school and district level, having written extensively on the factors that differentiate effective leaders, as well as on how they are hired, supervised, supported, and retained. Grissom is a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association and past president of the Association for Education Finance and Policy. He earned his Ph.D. at Stanford University.
