(March 12, 2024, Washington, D.C) – On behalf of AACTE (American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education), President and CEO Lynn M. Gangone, Ed.D., issued the following statement today regarding President Biden’s FY 2025 budget investments:

“AACTE and its member colleges and universities applaud President Biden’s commitment to ensuring that all children benefit from well-prepared, fully qualified teachers,” Gangone said. “We look forward to working with Congress to enact this funding, which will support innovative educator preparation models that are resulting in increased enrollment in educator preparation programs across the country.”

The budget President Biden released on March 11 includes important investments in educator preparation, professional development, and school leadership that will enable AACTE members to accelerate pioneering work to broaden access to high-quality educator preparation and address the educator shortage impacting communities across America. Despite significant fiscal constraints, the Biden Administration prioritized the following important programs:

* Because FY 2024 appropriations are not yet determined, FY 2023 is used for comparison.

** The Apprenticeship Program funds programs for early childhood educators, K-12 teachers, and school principals, among many other occupations.
