AACTE to Present Lifetime Achievement Award to Northwestern University Professor Carol Lee

Washington, D.C. (February 17, 2010) The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) will award its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to Carol Lee, professor of education and social policy at Northwestern University. The award will be presented Friday, February 19, at AACTE’s 62nd Annual Meeting & Exhibits in Atlanta.

Lee is an innovative educator who has spent her life devoted to teacher preparation and development, urban education and cultural contexts affecting learning and literacy. Her leadership, teaching and research into African-centered education demonstrates that students learn best when they connect what they learn with what they already know.
