"Using Edthena ensures that the feedback given to interns during a field experience aligns with our program goals and standards. This was happening before the pandemic, but virtual visitation has become even more important as we adjust to supervision during Covid-19."
Meri Tenney-Muirhead
Elementary Education Managing Director, University of Michigan
"We are able to support candidates during their field experiences in rural and remote districts by utilizing Edthena to maintain regular contact and feedback to them throughout the year. It’s added a wonderful reflective tool for our candidates to use in their growth as educators."
Bryan Carter
Undergraduate Program Director, CityU Seattle
"With Edthena, we ask candidates to really deeply analyze their own teaching practice. We assign them very particular prompts. Sometimes we’ll ask them to comment on the videos, sometimes we’ll ask them to write a commentary or reflection, and we oftentimes will use prompts right from the edTPA."
Megan Kelley-Petersen
Director, U-ACT Program, University of Washington

We know that the Covid-19 pandemic is putting a stress on program design as well as program budgets. We also know that video observation technology has the potential to positively impact candidates during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. This grant is our way of meeting the needs of the field in this particular moment.

The Edthena platform runs fully in a web browser with nothing to install. Faculty and candidates can use their existing computing devices. For recording, candidates can use any video camera. Any device can work for recording — iOS, Android, Mac, PC, and Chromebook are all fully compatible with the Edthena platform.

Teacher candidates upload videos of their practice, and faculty can provide feedback at specific moments in time. Perfect for methods courses, field observations, edTPA skill-building, and group learning. Edthena makes it possible to capture data for candidate growth and program improvement.
