2025 DATA UPDATE: Degrees and Certificates Conferred in Education
This issue brief updates information presented in previous AACTE publications, including Colleges of Education: A National Portrait (Second Edition) and Institutions Offering Degrees in Education: 2009-10 to 2018-19. This data update reports on degrees and certificates conferred in education by all U.S. postsecondary institutions during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
How to Use this Report
This report can be read as a straightforward summary of degrees and certificates conferred in education, but AACTE members can also explore the patterns at the national and state levels, disaggregated by institution type, gender, and race/ethnicity. For example, members can:
- Track changes in the number of degrees conferred over time,
- Examine diversity trends among degree recipients,
- And understand shifts in the institutional landscape of educator preparation.
Interactive Dashboards
To assist in this work, AACTE has created a set of interactive, customizable data displays.
Access to this report, and 2025 DATA UPDATE: Teacher Preparation Program Trends, is included as a bundled free resource to AACTE members. Non-members can access both reports for the bundled price of $19.99.
