After an engaging and highly rated session on grant writing at the recent Holmes Research & Dissertation Retreat, this session will provide Holmes Scholars with knowledge on how to identify and successfully obtain grant funding to support their research scholarship.

Cynthia L. Wilson
Retired Professor
Florida Atlantic University

Dr. Cynthia L. Wilson is a retired professor from the Department of Special Education at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). During her 27 year tenure at FAU,  Wilson served as the Department Chair and the Executive Director of a Teacher Education project. She was also the recipient of multiple awards including the FAU Faculty Mentor of the Year Award; Faculty Member of the Year, Broward Achievement Award; FAU and College of Education Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching; and the Research Faculty Incentive Program Award. Wilson has significant experience in grantsmanship and has been principal/co-principal investigator and project manager of several research and teacher preparation grants totaling more than $6 million dollars. In addition to her professorial experience, her career also includes teaching in classrooms for students with disabilities, working in the Bureau of Education for Exceptional Students in the Florida Department of Education, and serving as a consultant to local school districts, culminating in 38 years of experience as a special educator.

I invite you to attend this follow-up grant writing workshop. In this session, we will explore specific sources of funding in the areas of research in the education field, special education service delivery, and personnel preparation. The funding sources will include possible sources for dissertation research.
