AACTE Praises Release of Teacher Leader Model Standards

(May 5, 2011, Washington, D.C.) – The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) commends the Teacher Leadership Exploratory Consortium for its development of the Teacher Leader Model Standards. Through the new standards, the Consortium, which includes education organizations, state education agencies, institutions of higher education, teacher leaders, principals and superintendents, has addressed a long-standing need for guidelines to define the knowledge and skills necessary for teachers to assume effective leadership roles in schools, districts and the profession.
