AACTE's Washington Week is held each June in the nation's capital and features three key events:

  • State Leaders Institute Offered to current leaders of both AACTE and ATE state chapters, this year’s program is focused on developing state chapter capacity and state chapter leadership. Engage with leaders from across the country to continue to strengthen the role of the state chapter in being a voice for the profession.

  • Holmes Summer Policy Institute – Created for current AACTE Holmes Doctoral Scholars, this experience allows attendees to connect with leaders in education policy. Attendees will learn how to communicate their research to a wide audience including policymakers.

  • Day on the HillThe signature component of Washington Week, Day on the Hill provides advocacy preparation and the opportunity to engage with elected officials and their staff on Capitol Hill. The event includes a full-day orientation where attendees build skills and prepare for conducting meetings with congressional offices.

  • Curious about AACTE’s Day on the Hill? Check out this webinar that shares a lot about why Day on the Hill is worth attending and how to prepare to come to Washington, DC and advocate in support of the profession. This webinar is led by AACTE members and members of the AACTE Standing Committee on Government Relations and Advocacy.
