National Educator Shortage Summit: Teacher Personas for Recruitment and Retention

NASDTEC Professional Education Committee (PEC) is hosting an open discussion webinar where panelists will discuss the teacher personas developed during the third National Educator Shortage Summit. During this open discussion, panelists will discuss the personas and how school districts and educator preparation programs can utilize these to recruit and retain teachers. Co-sponsored by AACTE and the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA).

    Kelly Coash-Johnson

    Kelly Coash-Johnson is the Executive Director for the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA). AASPA’s mission is to provide every member with services, resources, and information vital to successful school human resource practices in the interest of students and provide leadership in promoting effective human talent practices. Kelly has over 25 years of experience with educational associations working with not only K12 HR Administrators but with Superintendents, Principals and Special Education Administrators. As the Executive Director, Kelly works with multiple state K12 HR Administrators learning and sharing best practices and strategic leadership. Kelly has been with AASPA for 10 years. She holds a Professional Human Capital Leader in Education certification and is currently working on her doctorate, where she is studying teacher retention.

    Dr. Sara Skretta

    Dr. Sara Skretta serves as the Senior. Director of Accreditation, Placement & Licensure and Certification Officer at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Education and Human Sciences. She started her career as a high school English teacher and coach, before moving into administration. She currently serves as the President of the Nebraska Council of Teacher Education, Co-Chair of the Nebraska State Educator Shortage Steering Committee, Co-Chair of the Membership Committee for AACTE and is a member of the AASPA Legislative Committee. Dr. Skretta is active in various other local, state and national organizations and started her 30+ year education career as a high school English teacher, coach, and administrator. She served as a human resources executive before returning to UNL, her alma mater. Dr. Skretta’s passion and dedication to high quality education and educator preparation is due in part to being the wife of a school administrator and mom to four boys!
