Attendees can also explore how AACTE’s approach to advocacy connects to Washington Week — and how it differs from the work happening at state and local levels. Additionally, this session previews how the “Pathways Into Education Policy” activity will help apply these lessons in real time on the Hill.\nLearning Objectives:\n\nIdentify updated key players, systems, and issues in education policy-making in the nation’s capital\nUnderstand the basics of how AACTE works in the government relations and advocacy space\nUnderstand the difference between federal advocacy on AACTE’s priorities at Washington Week vs. local/state advocacy\nDiscuss applications of lessons learned from the ‘Pathways Into Education Policy’ activity at the upcoming Washington Week\n\nSpeakers:\nJacqueline King, Ph.D.\nSenior Consultant\nAACTE\nJacqueline King, Ph.D. is an independent consultant who works with K-12 and higher education leaders to improve student outcomes. King has had a long career in education, including 15 years at the American Council on Education (ACE). She is the author or co-author of numerous reports, articles, and book chapters on college readiness, student financing of higher education, access and persistence in postsecondary education, student demographic trends, educator preparation, philanthropic giving to colleges and universities, and trends in the leadership of higher education.\n \nRanda Keeley, Ph.D.\nAssociate Professor and Holmes Program Coordinator\nTexas Woman’s University\nRanda G. Keeley, PhD is an Associate Professor of Special Education at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX with a research concentration in classroom interventions that promote inclusive learning environments for students with special educational needs and disabilities. Her research interests include the application of quantitative and qualitative measures to analyze the effects of inclusive practices, culturally responsive teaching, and co-teaching as they relate to the teacher and student.\n \n \n \n
