SUMMARY:The COACHED Online Tool to Support Teacher Candidates’ Implementation of State Standards
DESCRIPTION:Webinar Slides\nCOACHED is an online system used to provide coaching and actionable feedback to teachers. With many automated and customizable features, the COACHED tool can be used to conduct observations of teacher candidates and encourage candidates to complete self-observations. COACHED contains a wide variety of instructional categories and evidence-based practices for which feedback can be given to teachers and candidates to help promote high-quality instruction during lessons related to content area standards. In this second AACTE Lunch & Learn featuring COACHED, faculty and staff from the University of Virginia will dive deeper into the online system by demonstrating how COACHED can be used to support teacher preparation.\nSpeakers: \n\nRachel L. Kunemund, Ph.D.\nResearch Assistant Professor\nUniversity of Virginia\nSchool of Education and Human Development\n \nRachel Kunemund is the co-lead of the STORMED (Supporting Teachers through Coaching, Observations, and Multimedia to Educate Students with Disabilities) team. She manages the S4 OSEP Stepping Up Technology Implementation grant and is co-principal investigator for the newly funded VERIFY Stepping Up project.\nAs a former teacher, she worked in elementary special education primarily teaching students with autism spectrum disorder. Kunemund is also a former scholar with the National Center for Leadership in Intensive Interventions through Vanderbilt University. Her line of research focuses on efforts to improve outcomes for young students with chronic problem behavior in school settings. Specifically, her expertise and program of research focus on early student-teacher relationships and interactions, as well as on student behavioral and academic outcomes. She received her Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University.\n\nOlivia Fudge Coleman, Ph.D.\nResearch Project Manager\nSTORMED Lab\nUniversity of Virginia\nOlivia Fudge Coleman is a project manager and co-lead of the STORMED team. She co-manages the S4 OSEP Stepping Up Technology Implementation grant and the newly funded VERIFY Stepping Up project. Coleman began her educational career as a middle school teacher for students with significant cognitive disabilities and then as a teacher of third-grade students with and without disabilities. Her research has focused on understanding the current state of educational programs and practices for students with significant cognitive disabilities and promoting and developing inclusive, evidence-based practices for this population of students.\n
