Each year, Congress goes through a budget and appropriations process to determine funding levels for federal programs. For the last few years, the federal government’s investment in education has declined. While there are many federal education programs which benefit schools, colleges, and departments of education there are only a couple that directly target higher education based educator preparation programs. AACTE and its members are actively engaged with Congress to talk about the impact of these programs and to secure increased funds for these programs so that they have a systemic impact on the educator preparation system.
