AACTE Announces 2012 State Chapter Support Grant Program
AACTE is pleased to make State Chapter Support Grants available in 2012 to support the development of new and existing state chapters and their initiatives. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to applicants from an existing state chapter or to those who plan to create a new chapter. All states are eligible to apply.

Grant Fund Purpose
State Chapter Support Grants must address one or more of three goals:
- Support the development of existing state chapters and their initiatives.
- Support the development of a new state chapter.
- Strengthen the relationship between AACTE and a state chapter.
Application Eligibility and Award Requirements
- States without an official AACTE chapter: One application will be allowed per state. One or more institutions may collaborate on an application; at least one applicant must be at an AACTE member institution.
- States with an official AACTE chapter: One application will be allowed per state and must be submitted by a member of the chapter leadership who is also from an AACTE member institution. Established chapters must complete the 2012 state chapter annual report prior to submitting their application.
- Applicants who received a 2011 State Chapter Support Grant must include with their application an update on their use of funds (no more than one page in length). This update is in addition to the final report that is due June 30, 2012.
- Grant awards must be spent within 1 year of receipt.
Proposal Requirements -
Proposals should contain all of the following components:
- A list of all applicants, including all chapter leadership members and their titles (if applicable), professional job titles, and institutional affiliations.
- A cover letter (no more than two pages in length) that:
- Briefly states the intended use of grant funds.
- Explains how the applicants and the purpose meet the eligibility requirements as expressed in the RFP.
- Acknowledges any individuals or company contracted to consult on or author any portion of the proposal.
- Includes identification of the primary contact(s) responsible for financial oversight and implementation of the project work. Provides contact information to include name, institution affiliation, e-mail address, and phone number.
- A narrative (no more than five pages in length, 11 point font, double-spaced) that:
- Describes project goals and planned activities, including a description of applicants’ roles and responsibilities.
- Explains how the proposed activities align with at least one of the three grant purposes: to strengthen existing state chapters, assist in the development of new state chapters, or strengthen the relationship between AACTE and the state chapters.
- Explains how the project goals and planned activities are vital to the growth and/or enhancement of the state chapter.
- Lists resources requested and any matching or in-kind resources available.
- Conveys the commitment of applicants to the proposed project and its goals.
- Agrees to complete and submit a report, 3-4 pages in length, to AACTE staff by May 31, 2013, describing how the funds were used, the project outcomes, how the grant impacted the chapter, and any anticipated next steps and including copies of all receipts.
- A budget (Excel spreadsheet or PDF format) including the following three components:
- A breakdown of project expenses with brief explanations of each.
- A breakdown of in-kind resources the applicants are able to provide.
- Total resources sought from AACTE.
Submission Guidelines
- Only online applications will be accepted; to submit application documents,
- The application deadline is April 16, 2012, 12:00 p.m. EDT.
- Applicants will be notified by May 21, 2012.
Review Process
- AACTE staff will review all applications for .
- Staff will submit its recommendations to the AACTE Executive Committee, which will make the final award decisions.
- Funding will be provided to as many eligible programs as possible given the funds allocated to the project.
